Review of Sanak

Sanak (2021)
6/10
Plenty of action in this movie on a hostage situation
29 October 2021
There are a number of movies on the subject of a hostage situation with a few on such a situation in hospitals where a loved one of the hero is inside the hospital. This film's title Sanak is explained as" hope under siege" a reminder of the recent movie " State of siege, Temple attack" which was a similar movie , just replace hospital with temple.

Think "Diehard" and this film is similar. Change Bruce Willis from an ex cop to Vidyut Jammwal as a MMA coach and change Bruce's ex wife to Vidyut's wife trapped inside the hospital. Not that it matters, but the treatment is similar. Like in "Diehard" the villain plays a big role here too. All credit to Chandan Roy Sanyal for playing a slave, slick and smart bad man with some effective dialogue delivery. He steals quite a few scenes from Vidyut. The movie will thrill fans of Vidyut since there is plenty of action and every 15 minutes or so there is a well choreographed scene of hand to hand combat. Think of the various departments of the hospital like MRI machine or lobby or laundry or new borns room and there is action there.

Director Kanishk Varma has made an entertaining movie and the audience, specially the younger lot will enjoy the action and excitement. Not a dull moment as the cat and mouse game between the hero and the villain provides the thrills. Neha Dhupia impresses as the emotionally charged ACP supervising the rescue operations.
