Evil Eye (II) (2020)
2/10
Such a mess
22 September 2021
Mis-genred, poorly plotted, and incredibly tedious- Evil Eye is not a horror film as it is made out to be- but its easily the worst horror movie that isn't a horror movie ever made. This film is kind of a disaster. When I heard the plot and saw the film was largely casted with Indian actors I was very excited, but unfortunately it's quite possibly the most mistoned film I have seen in some time. This film is NOT a horror movie, if you wanted to call it anything remotely close to that, it's a thriller- and a Lifetime original film level one at that. It's hard to believe such a mess of a film with such horrible writing was actually made by a major studio led alone sold to another one. The film is such a mess in terms of how it wants to execute its story, it feels like you are watching a hallucination play out on screen. Its edited very poorly, and the dialogue is often the same thing over and over again. Even the scenes are almost shot for shot repeats of other scenes. It's ridiculous while they were making this movie that they didn't realize it was falling apart at the seems. It isn't a horror movie, it isn't a good drama film, in fact it's hardly a film at all. The actors all try their best, mainly actresses Sunita Mani and Sarita Choudhury- but Mani is hardly on screen enough to save the film from exhaustion and Choudhury just simply overdose it at times. In the end, Evil Eye is a disaster- too bloated and yet too thin- and altogether just an unpleasant experience to watch. It has some moments that shine, but in the end, its as forgettable and as messy as they can be.

My Rating: 2.5/10.
