This anime have clearly 2sides: one is fantasy adventure and one is ecchi harem (and you do not really find out this side until you get deeper into the series)
We do not really need this second part but it is so interconnected to the main theme so not possible to get rid of it
However, what is good is that Noir always keep his standing in both situations, showing crystal personality, especially if compared to average new-teenagers in other series
For those of you fan of psychology, there is an interesting passage in one episode (don't say which to avoid super spoiler): in one of the level there is elf who is in reality the tree of life of a forest, as she knows already everything about Noir she assume the a form similar to a little Emma: what happen next I can not write, but you will find out it is quite controversial.
It reminds me a book I read in the past about the 3 human personalities Childhood/Adult/Parental: She has no personality by definition as she is an ethereal being, Noir apparently remain in his Adult personality but she manage to send him back to his past, this process which is usually subconscious happen here at sun light, he is very confused. Psychologist would say it is a "misbehaviour" of his adult personality.
