Review of Paranoiac

Paranoiac (1963)
7/10
Good chiller
30 July 2021
Is Eleanor Ashby being deliberately driven insane by her brother Simon? Is the man claiming to be her brother Tony an imposter?

Watch this tense Hammer which weaves a tangled web of disguise, deception and murder on the way to its final shock revelation, to find out. There are lots of twists and turns, and some scary bits such the mask that a particular person wore ( though the masked person shouldn't have been revealed till the end). All the actors do brilliantly but Oliver Reed gets the meatiest role as an insane scoundrel who is willing to go to any length to get his inheritance- he gets a bit hammy towards the end. But all in all it's a good chiller with oodles of atmosphere. It benefits greatly for being in black and white.
