Something different

Warning: Spoilers
ORDERS SIGNED IN WHITE (1974) is another obscure giallo film I managed to track down on Youtube. This one plays out as a crime thriller at the outset, portraying a violent heist that sees the robbers holing up in the countryside at a remote house location. Before long their numbers are being reduced by the intervention of a black-gloved killer whoes modus operandi is to paint his victims white after offing them! At this point it's pure giallo territory, but the main emphasis seems to be on political commentary, exposing the failings of the Italian justice system as so many 1970s crime films did. The script doesn't allow for any sympathetic characters but there's a lot going on here, from lesbianism to gangster showdowns and some big clifftop stunt sequences. It doesn't necessarily hold together too well at times, but at least it's different and it's never boring either.
