American X on Steroids - The Believer

Ryan Gosling and Ed Norton are among the finest actors of the 21st century. Norton stunned the movie-going public with his portrayal of an American nazi, and now Gosling has added another chilling portrayal of an American nazi; as a self-hating Jew.

Actually self-hating members of every major religion are a fairly common occurrence; Many of them are indoctrinated with their primary religion as children, and have no choice in what they are doing. As they get older, they generally either become stronger or weaker in their particular belief system.

It is still a very rare occurrence, however, that these self-hating individuals go to violent extremes against their native religions. Generally speaking, things like life, education, families, jobs and other more important things tend to take center stage in the vast majority of people's lives.

The film and Gosing's performance are mesmerizing, and the in-depth investigation of Jews in general is very informative. However, the message is very clear; hatred of any religious group for any reason is pretty much a waste of time and energy.
