Review of Kenan

Kenan (2021–2022)
1/10
Ouch. Everyone involved in this is better than this series.

They reshot the pilot 3 times, had to recast, had to hammer through filming to work around SNL, and had to bring in another showrunner to try to make this work, and the end result is nothing more than an embarrassment for everyone involved. With NBC desperate to keep their Kenan deal in play the forced series feels exactly that - forced in every line of dialogue, in every terribly directed episode, and in every single scene in which the cast seems lost. Who's to blame? There are good writers in the room, the nee showrunner has done great work, and most of the cast we know is capable of at least good work. But each scene feels as if the cast are all in different shows, with zero chemistry and a general lackluster sense of purpose. This show may be a priority for NBC in its fight to keep Kenan happy, but in reality all this is doing is harming everyone who is involved overall career. Please let it end NBC.
