At first glance, I thought it was gonna be another rape culture piece and was about to shut it off until one girl wakes up on a bed and is told she is 'chosen'. The women in this weren't bad but with every horror flick, the victims always go through "why is this happening to me?!" Soon after being drugged and having limbs surgically removed and replaced with 'weapons', only one time does one say she planned to get the hell out whatever way she can. I suppose this is a refreshing look at it; the rest of them got into what was happening and even embraced training. To have some context on the history or the arena would have made that a more believable story. The part that really got me was the aborted pregnancy in a jar. All in all, the gore was about a B+, the relationship between the Emperors son and the brunette was odd at best, but I'd give it a solid A-. Maybe if they come out with a sequel, they left it open as a possibility, it might be worth a look.
