Warning: Spoilers
"Larry" is an American live action short film from 2017, so this one is getting closer to its fifth anniversary and maybe it happened already if you do not check out my review immediately after writing. It runs for approximately five minutes and this means that it is indeed a very short watch. Not a big cast either, but let's start with Jacob Chase. he is the man who wrote and directed this film. Very prolific man, not only in these fields, but he has worked many times in the editing department too and also acted here and there. Not with this one here though. I will not mention the cast really as you can check out the names for yourself. Apparently, there were two people that played the title character here, even if that one was more about how he moved than about acting. Those two, just like the director, have also worked in all areas of filmmaking pretty much it seems.

Chase here used some known formulas when it comes to horror films. The jump scare at the very end is really common in those, especially short films. The laughing woman was almost another jump scare. The element of claustrophobia is also nothing new really. Same applies to the unstable lights in there. And of course also how Larry is gone all of a sudden, but he reappears quickly. Honestly, I hoped that maybe we could find out Larry is in the car by seeing how it stops and he gets out after (us not seeing) how he creates a mess in there, but the two drive off. And Larry is elsewhere as we find out. Okay. Pity. I preferred it when he was outside. The noise he made while moving was maybe the most haunting thing from the entire film. I am absolutely not against using successful formulas, but still something was missing here for me to give the overall outcome a positive recommendation. Some creativity or individuality and the exact ending also did almost nothing for me. So I think that, while this is never a failure, you should only watch it if you really love horror (short) films. But maybe then you already did because this has easily over a million clicks on Youtube since the director uploaded it in late 2017. For me, it's a thumbs-down.
