Hellraiser: Hellseeker (2002 Video)
6/10
Psychological hallucinationraiser

I accidentally picked up Hellseeker when I thought I was getting part 3, Hell on Earth. Thanks to its Finnish dvd title which translates as...Hell on Earth. Yeah, thanks...whose bright idea was that? Well, ok, let's watch anyway, even though I've heard bad things said about these later Hellraiser sequels.

And it was surprisingly good. The beginning is very interesting as the main character is having weird hallucinations and can't distinguish reality from dreams. I like that kind of surreal feeling of madness! Then the plot starts to drag a bit and feels like not advancing enough. But luckily towards the end there is cool stuff again, and the final wrap of the story is s bit mind-boggling but not bad.

For being part 6 in the series, Hellseeker succeeds pretty well in being a decent film. I was under the impression that all 2000's Hellraiser sequels are terrible but at least this one is watchable. It may be a bit slow if you expect non-stop schock and blood but as a more psychological horror movie it's quite all right, and has enough of Hellraiser feeling. Pinhead does not show up often but when he does it's very cool. I like the fact that they don't overuse the character. That makes him seem more powerful.

Due to the complicated story that has an element of mystery in it there is re-watching potential. I think I'll be back to this one sometime later.
