Nefes Nefese (2018)
8/10
Great story, great series, great acting...in just 10 Episodes. What more could you ask for?

I just finished watching this Turkish series for the second time and I am reminded why I enjoyed it so much. There are only 10 episodes and it is a tightly told story with great acting. The story centers around Rüya, who in a quest to find her mother with whom she believed was dead makes an internet connection with Boran, a Syrian Muslim, agreeing to marry him in order to travel across the Syrian border. She travels from Germany to Antalya, Turkey. On the plane she meets our handsome lead and local boy,Yusuf, who is traveling home for a party for the first time in six years. They make a bit of a connection on the plane, but part ways at the airport only to run in to each other again at a border exchange gone wrong. The border exchange involves the firing of guns and Yusuf misunderstanding Rüya's involvement...which leads to him kidnapping her and holding her hostage on his family's farm. Yusuf's father, with whom he is estranged, ends up being kidnapped and Yusuf brokers a deal with the kidnappers to exchange Rüya and her phone for his father. This exchange happens and the kidnappers end up upset because what they really wanted was an emerald...which they don't get, this puts Yusuf's whole family in danger. Meanwhile Yusuf and Rüya are falling for each other and he brings her home as a guest this time instead of a "prisoner", which some of the farm kids continue to call Rüya. Yusuf promises to help her find her mom. Meanwhile Rüya's dad finds out she is gone...and it turns out he in the big player in the Syrian border smuggling scheme. Yusuf's ex ends up being involved with the police in some kind of special task force...jealous and trying to do her job. This is a great story with some phenomenal acting (Sukru Ozyildiz is so good, I was immediately looking for another series to watch him). The chemistry was really believable between our two stars and the family really brought the warmth (good and bad, but mainly good of a big family that lives together). This story is wrapped up so nicely it left me completely satisfied with the story arcs.

Highly recommend this series, especially if you are just starting to watch Turkish TV.
