Great up until severe Deus Ex Machina

Warning: Spoilers
Terrible when the month old (but appearing to be five or so) Elizabeth suddenly has magical powers and stops the core breach. Her powers weren't set up in the plot in the slightest until literally five minutes before the end.

What on earth were they thinking?

That abruptly changed the show from sci-fi to fantasy. And there was no need, as if defeating the ship in battle was not enough.

I'm not at all convinced Diana would destroy the Earth out of spite because Earth is still extremely valuable and destroying it would gain her nothing. The threat was good (and earlier there was a great scene of the resistance debating it) and likewise John refusing to cooperate was good.

Given that she does do it, a better ending would have been them capturing her and she willingly disarming it. She is a survivor and decidedly NOT suicidal. They could easily have had her escape after disarming it.
