Review of The End

The End (2012)
7/10
But is it the .. end?

Now I haven't read the novel this is based on, so right from the start I'm letting you know, I cannot compare this and how it fares with the source. Most of the times books are better than the movies they are based on ... many times at least. So if you have read the book, you have a preconceived idea about things that are about to happen. Maybe there are even some explanations to certain events that just do not get fully explained here.

I like that they don't and they give the movie a certain flavor. The relationships the characters have are good, the "new member" of the group is sort of the viewer, who is a catalyst to getting to know them a bit and make it easier for plot or character points being explained or told. Nice pace, if you are not into fast paced storytelling that is.

There is a certain mood the movie tries to sell and it is of uncertainty and grief. About ends but also new beginnings ... about change in general. Change forced from the outside but that has to happen on the inside too
