I understand that it's only episode 2, but so far I'm failing to see why this series has so much love around it.

Is it just because the two male leads are handsome?

The story of this episode is so overdone (scary werewolf style wood monster), the acting of the minor characters is pretty awful at times and I don't see any original flourishes added for interest. This feels like it could just be any substandard cheap horror movie.

To me it feels like this is a boy band doing a lame cover version of an old hit. It takes something that already exists and just sucks out anything that makes it special and spits out a sanitised personality deficient "product".

The episode's only redeeming quality has nothing to do with the monster at all, but lies in the boys trying to figure out the mystery behind their father's intentions. Is he trying to turn them into monster hunters?

I thought I recognised Alden here in an early role! Turns out it is him. Shame he gets absolutely nothing to do with a nothing character.

If the show continues at this basic uncreative level of story and dialogue - I might have to give up on it.
