Hannah Arendt spoke of the banality of evil. That's right: A serial killer may be skillful in his methods, but he is terribly stupid in his purposes. I don't know if Heller wanted to tell us that with his anticlimactic ending, but I see it that way. Perhaps we are so used to worshiping evil through demonic characters more interesting than the heroes, That this reality bath has been unexpected for some viewers.The cast has been as solid as ever.
