An incredible lens into the southern border
26 March 2020
This is such an incredible show that documents the work of Customs and Border Protection officers who work on the international bridges that link Texas and Mexico. With amazing production standards, incredible stories and totally unbiased approach to the subject matter, each episode feels and looks like a documentary. It baffles me somewhat that other reviewers mark it down on the basis that so few of the people caught smuggling drugs are prosecuted. The fact of the matter is that prosecutions are decided by the United States attorney or the local DAs - not by the officers who seize these loads coming across from Mexico. Furthermore, anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of how the drug cartels operate would know that the people smuggling the drugs over the border are usually doing so because they are threatened with death if they don't. As far as I am concerned, this is a "must watch" show; it's educational, revelatory and entertaining - a rarity in these days of "reality" TV!
