Then they gave him some indescribably awful dialogue. It might have stood a chance had the film been tongue in cheek, but it isn't.
To put the cap on it, the actor's delivery is nearly as good as a primary school nativity play. No, let's be honest, the primary school kids are in a league miles above this guy. I can't recall the last time I saw an actor in what purports to be a real movie who delivers his lines as shockingly unconvincingly as this guy.
