A Holiday Special That Will Never Happen
15 December 2019
A Muppet Family Christmas is a neat classic that sadly has never been seen on home media nowadays due to legal issues.

In this, Kermit and the gang go to Grizzly Farm, as his mom is going somewhere warm on vacation, leaving the house to Doc and Sprocket (from Fraggle Rock). However, Miss Piggy is stuck in a photo session and is delayed. Other plot devices include a turkey trying to woo Camilla from Gonzo, and Swedish Chef trying to cook Big Bird.

Yes, this special brings all the Muppets under one roof. The Main Muppets (the Muppet group that appears in the Muppet Show), Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, even Muppet Babies gets a mention. And sadly, this is where a bulk of the legal issues occur. When this special was made, all these muppets were under one roof, but now, the Main Muppets are owned by Disney while the Sesame Street Muppets are owned by Sesame Workshop. The company owning the rights to Fraggle Rock is not known, but this, coupled with music issues that basically caused some scenes to be cut from home media release, means the special will likely never be released on home media in any form unless a Christmas miracle happened to get Disney and Sesame Workshop to cooperate.

However, this is actually a good heart-warming movie. The Muppets never fail to put a smile on my face, and to see all the Muppets from all the shows together for one Christmas special is a treat. It is hard to find on home media, but I recommend searching YouTube, especially for the uncut TV airing.
