One of the biggest factors that could have helped make this film actually enjoyable is if they had gotten a better cast. half of them can't act at all, and all of them lack charisma. it's kind of amazing that they managed to cobble together such a soul-sucking cast.
also why were the characters constantly screaming and throwing fits all the time? it's one thing to show the realistic fear these people are facing in a scary situation, and another thing to shred my eardrums.
the dialogue was incredibly corny and stiff at the same time. all the jokes fell flat. do the screenwriters know what actual high schoolers sound like? do they know what PEOPLE sound like? i couldn't bear to listen to it within ten minutes, but i powered through because i wanted to make sure my opinion would be based on the overall product. it was not worth it.
and what was with the unnecessary racism? and the predictable plot? the listless attempt at drama?
the single redeeming factor was that some of the deaths were well-executed, but they weren't special enough to make me want to watch this movie again. there are other horror films that have great deaths too but without the utter failures of this movie.
