Los Espookys (2018–2022)
8/10
A goofy offbeat comedy
7 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It may take a bit of focus on the viewers part but after you've gotten over the initial hurdle of having to read subtitles, the rest is a lot of fun.

The humor is deadpan and quite silly at the same time. Julio Torres steals the show with his murky/moody character of Andres. Ana Fabrega is consistently wack-o as Tati. The quirky cast is quite talented and the storylines always surprising. The silliness ranges from an entire scene agonizing over Renaldo's name not containing the "Y" it calls for---to a surreal sub-plot in which Andres meets an other- worldly lady who knows the secret of his unknown past. Her price for the sacred info? She wants to see the movie "The King's Speech."

By episode 3, the storylines start to venture into fantasy/magical realism territory, but given the crazy premise, it only improves the comedy.

The show is not for everyone; it IS different from anything you've ever seen on TV. I'm hoping it gets renewed so they can keep getting weirder in season 2.
