Review of Shagird

Shagird (1967)
8/10
Nicely executed comedy plot
31 December 2018
One of the best plots for a comedy movie; a love triangle involving a young man, a young woman and an aged/elderly man. And well made too.

Madan Puri & Urvashi Dutta's characters were not required at all. The screenplay could have been better without them. Joy Mukharjee seen struggling to find what acting is all about. Saira Banu is too loud and over acting. I.S.Johar is wonderful as professor, probably one of his best works. Nazir Hussain, Achala Sachdev and Asit Sen are good.

LP's music is fantastic with songs; 1) Duniya Paagal Hai, 2) Wo Hain Jara Khafa Khafa, 3) Bade Miyan Deewane, 4) Kanha Kanha, Aan Padi Main Tere Dwar, 5) Dil Wil Pyar Vyar Main Kya, and 6) Ruk Ja Ae Hawa.

The same story was used again in 1993's Shreeman Ashique with Rishi Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar & Anupam Kher in central characters.
