The Reinvigoration the Franchise Needed
31 December 2018
LucasFilm's own Episode VIII: The Last Jedi had left a sour taste in the mouths of many a fan of the STAR WARS saga, and a year later this is still true. Fans of the franchise were and still are divided over the controversial eighth instalment, and the release of VADER has helped heal these old wounds.

Despite being a fan film on a budget lower than the average episode of The Clone Wars TV show, "Star Wars Theory" and Danny Ramirez deliver a short film with the spirit of STAR WARS in mind; beautiful VFX, cinematography and of course, a compelling cadre of villains aplenty.

The film, naturally, leaves much to be desired however; the voice acting of Bradley Klein for the character of Emperor Palpatine shows that perhaps Master Yoda has rubbed off on the voice of the Senate more than the dark side has. Jacob A. Cadmus' score for the film is entirely synthetic in instrumentation, unfitting for a STAR WARS flick, and it shows throughout the film. The film also seems a little too reliant on lines and references to previous material, as well.

Nevertheless, this film is one fans of the STAR WARS franchise have needed to heal themselves, and its sequel is hotly anticipated.
