The only parts of this movie that felt ordinary or weak were the actual scenes of the crimes. Those weren't anything special and the initial event that drives the plot forward felt a bit far-fetched when all is revealed. Just to pat.
I would have been fine if they women had just called off their scheme, sold the notebook, and gone on with their lives for the last quarter of the film.
The performances and the writing were at a much higher level than the conspiracy/heist elements.
