Taking Earth (2017)

Good Idea, Terrible Execution
16 September 2018
Honestly, if the writer had been able to sell his ideas to a bigger company it could've turned out pretty good. The general idea was actually interesting and locked me in early on. After that though, all down hill. Terrible acting. The romance doesn't even make sense (usually your thinking 'Oh I hope he gets the girl' but here you're just wondering why she is even in the movie at all). The effects were ok, but there is just so much unexplained, like where the character is from, why they want to kill him, why they allowed the son to come to earth and not just blow the planet up, where are the aliens from, how did they find him on earth, how is the acting so freaking bad, they didn't give ANY information about the 'epidemic' that happened (again, good idea but absolutely terrible execution), and so on and so forth. Give it to Spielberg and see if he can resurrect the idea, but honestly unless your trying to entertain your twelve year old it's not worth putting on the TV.
