München 72 - Das Attentat (2012 TV Movie)
6/10
A sad chapter in history

Warning: Spoilers
"München 72 - Das Attentat" recalls the events of the 1972 Munich Olympic Games and the terrorist attacks of a Palestinian group against the Israeli Olympic delegation, including the tremendous failures of the German political and police forces.

The film is not a documentary but is fully displayed by actors. Even though most of the meanwhile known facts are interwoven into the story, some of the personal characterizations are surely based on cinematic decisions. I always have my difficulties with this kind of "living history", because it tends to falsify the real events. Nonetheless this film makes a solid approach and is especially suitable for people who haven't been introduced into the 1972 events so far. The production and the acting are both neither award-winning, nor bad and so this title is probably best described as a solid adaption of the true historic events.

All in all this is not a must-see but it is an honest and educating movie, even though it tries a bit too much to create its own heroes and give sense to these dramatic events.
