"Oedipus" aka "Oedipus: The Movie" is an American English-language short film from 2004, so this one has its 15th anniversary in 2019. It won an award for its cinematography (which surprises me a bit) and it is one of the more known works by writer and director Jason Wishnow. I cannot share the praise though. You can decide for yourself if it is a creative idea to re-enact an old tale with vegetables playing the characters, but it certainly would have helped to actually understand what is going on. The visual side is very shoddy in my opinion, the voice acting hardly any better, which is surprising if you see experienced voice actors like Tara Sands as part of the cast here. Luckily Wishnow included the name of the protagonist in the title because otherwise I may not have seen the Oedipus reference at all, perhaps because I am only very vaguely familiar with the man's story, namely with actually nothing except the soft spot he has for his own mother. Overall, I have to give this film a thumbs-down and I found it disappointing for the most part. Don't watch.
