Cute little story

"Mama dlya mamontyonka" or "Mother for a Little Mammoth" is a Soviet 8-minute cartoon from 1981 and one of the shorter works from this country in terms of animation. The title already tells us that we have a little mammoth here who gets lost in the polar ice and is looking for his mother. But he finds friends quickly always, at the pole as well as in the jungle, and finally also finds somebody to be a mama to him. The story was cute, even if it lacked a little depth perhaps and the baby mammoth was just as sweet as it gets. In terms of the other animals, the makers went for realism over cuteness really. It's possibly the most known work by director Oleg Churkin and writer Dina Nepomnyashchaya has no other credit to her IMDb profile, so same applies to her I guess. All in all, it's a cute little animal film that you could almost call a road movie. Good television production and I recommend the watch.
