I need to get something out first. This second plot line with Hades I thought was pretty good but had a lot of problems which held it back for me. From unnecessary subploting which slowing things down and did nothing for the plot line.

Tons of opportunities missed (along with the first plot line) like having more characters from Greek myth come into the picture, which I was looking forward to seeing and tees me off we didn't. The plot line also wasn't that exciting much like the first one because not much happens.

There are some plot holes as well let alone stupidity that could of been avoided, that seem to come from some characters like Emma whose made a few dumb decisions in the season, however with her I can forgive her for it because after what she's been though she wasn't 100 percent, at least she wasn't as bad as Belle.

OK, that's enough of my rant, lets get down to some of the good things in this two parter.

I really loved seeing Henry take action. This character for me is really getting better, I would love to see him have a more proactive role in things in the future. It really demonstrated how he is kinda elevating more to hero status. And personal I really was for his cause on getting rid of magic, granted I know that's extreme but I don't blame him. The death of Robin, Henry kinda lost another father to black magic but also seeing Rumple about to once again steel power and kill everyone, as well as the looming possibility Regina might turn to the dark side again pushes him over the edge. But Henry does have a valid point, so far there really has been more misuse than good use of magic.

Even loved a moment when Rumple was spouting some crap toward Henry on his actions taking magic away and Henry of course doesn't take his bull crap and stands up for himself and I thought yeah, good for you kid and if Henry didn't do what he did then Emma and Regina would be dead let alone most of the New York populace.

I really like his back and forth with Violet whom is a decent addition to the show, it's actually great seeing Henry having someone his own age to interact with. Hopefully they'll develop her and the relation with the two more in the next season.

I can't help but have a bit of this "Doctor Who" vibe with both of them. Henry almost comes of as a young version of that protagonist, just like "The Doctor" he doesn't use weapons but intellect and wits to win. His quill is sort of his sonic screw driver. Heck, even what he's wearing is similar to the forth Doctor's get up, with that scarf, coat; even what Violet wears looks like a bit like something companion Sarah Jane would wear. The only thing now that both Henry and Violet need are a Tardis. Though I have a feeling their going to get one in next season, as there is a twist to Viloet's character.

However what really makes the two parter is in it's standard setting for the next season as it has really broadened realm of the fantasy world as we discovered more "Once Upon a Time" record books. I thought this was awesome because it meant we would see more characters, ones we haven't touched upon yet.

I really like that new main villain Mr. Hyde. I know that's another wild card but in the original book there were fantasy elements as the formula Dr. Jeckall created did have some alchemist properties. But Mr. Hyde looked to be a solid villain as he was really menacing and what made him even more dangerous is not just his super strength but how he is armed with both his knowledge in both science and alchemy. In a way his the kind of villain you would see in a steam punk fantasy which is awesome, made me wonder if we'll see some of those elements in next season.

I can't help but think the next plot line for the sixth season there is going to be a "Captain America: Civil War" vibe to it as were going to probably see Hyde have his "Leagon of Doom" against the Storybroke party whom are pretty much the "Justice League". I personally don't mind since the super team sub genre in comics and movies is a big thing these days, their just popping up all the time these days from "King's Quest", "Future Quest", "Gold Key Allence", the list goes on. This was a story line that I personally I had in mind for a long time. It's going to be awesome seeing the new characters on the roster.

They of course had a clever way to bring the evil queen back, which kinda reminds me of how "Power Rangers" brought the evil Green Ranger back one more time. On one hand that little voice in me is saying "Yeah, the dark queen is back." But on the other hand I'm thinking "hmmmm?" I'm personally a little worried on how this subplot with the evil queen is going to balance out or mesh with the central plot line.

Overall this two part season finale was good, to me this was one of the only episodes that stand out and like from the season which sadly aren't many. But as for season 5 itself, it was decent but as a fan of the series, I personally think we can do better, and they better if they want to have a final season which I feel is something that should happen soon.

The war for the realms is about to begin.
