Review of Redux II

The X-Files: Redux II (1997)
Season 5, Episode 2
10/10
Redux II is the best episode and conclusion of the two parts alongside with Redux I!
27 February 2016
Redux II (The X-Files) is the best episode of the two parts they are both the best one together of Season 5 and I love them both. This Episode is about Scully (Gillian Anderson) collapsing and landing in the hospital. Mulder (David Duchovny) visits her, while FBI assistant director Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) arrests him and brings him back in front of the board members in the FBI headquarters. Now everyone knows he is alive. Not only that but Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) told Elder #1 (Don S. Williams) not to underestimate Mulder and he was right, they shouldn't underestimate Mulder at all, awesome!

Plot: Scully is hospitalized after collapsing, while Mulder receives help from a most unlikely source as he continues to search for a cure for Scully's illness.

This Episode part II is more melodramatic and more sad than entertaining, but that makes this Episode so powerful executed. This is the second time we see Bill Scully Jr. (Pat Skipper) to find out, that he is the brother of Scully and It was sad when her mother and her brother comes to see her in the hospital. The acting was extremely well and brilliant performed by the cast, mostly by dying Gillian Anderson who gave a perfect, brilliant acting performance I have ever seen. I love this episode: Redux I and II of the fifth season are both my favorite Episodes of all time. The same as I re watch the second time in in the row the first episode so did I re watch this episode as well. I am so happy that I do have this Season on DVD.

I am a huge fan of the X-Files and I seriously love the mythology episodes that they have Alien conspiracy. I love how Section Chief Scott Blevins and Cigarette Smoking Man gets what they deserve on the end of the episode. I love that the end of this episode has a happy ending and Scully's cancer is in remission, I really love that! Scully's mom brings a priest to make a prayers with Scully and it was so beautiful acted. Redux II has a also pretty shocking conclusion. The Cigarette-Smoking Man is killed off. After most of Redux II cleverly suggested that the mysterious "Quiet Willy" was going to pull the trigger on Fox Mulder, ending the threat to the conspiracy once and for all, he ultimately assassinates the Cigarette-Smoking Man. The villain spots the red laser pointer on his chest just a moment too late; the shot is fired, the villain falls. Lying there on the floor of his apartment, the Cigarette-Smoking Man gently holds a shattered picture of a young Fox and Samantha Mulder.

It is a pretty powerful death scene for one of the most iconic bad guys in the history of television. It manages to capture the strange intimacy at the heart of the show's convoluted and complex mythology; The X-Files is ultimately a generational struggle between parents and children. Whether the Cigarette-Smoking Man is biologically related to Fox or Samantha Mulder ultimately doesn't matter; he is very much a father figure. He embodies the sins of an entire generation who presumed they were acting in the best interests of their children. This is the third time we see Mulder's sister Samantha (Megan Leitch) alive and she claims that Cigarette Smoking Man is her father and she refused to see her mom with Mulder, that is really sad and confusing in this episode, that is a minor flaw that I do have a problem with the episode, but the rest is the best.

Overall: the second episode in season 5 is awesome and it is the best one with Redux I and worth of a watch for any Drama and Sci-Fi lover out there. The acting and the sad in here is well executed that I love to death! This episode also get's a perfect 10 by me.
