Penguins of Madagascar (2014)

Different and lower than its predecessors, but still funny

DreamWorks' Madagascar series continues with its latest release penguins of Madagascar. But the actual flavor of Madagascar series is missing in this movie as unlike the previous films the lead characters Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman totally swiped out here and we can get that image as the name of the movie tells that it is all about that four tiny penguins. Yes, it is skipper, Kowalski, Rico and private are here to freshen up viewers mind. The film starts with the three baby penguins skipper, Kowalski and Rico found a rolling egg and their enormous effort to save the egg. They got succeed in their job and they found private from the egg. As private did not have any family the three penguins welcomed him in their team. Then they got some huge troubles as they were trapped under the plan of squid Dave who is personally known to world as a human Dr. Octavius. But somehow they managed to escape from him and his squid army initially and met another great team named North Wind that has a wolf as their captain and a bear, an owl and a seal as their member. Dave's intention was to make a world without penguins by turning them ugly monsters as he got ripped out from zoo as the penguins got famous for their cuteness. He really missed kids' adoration and suddenly got jealous of the penguins. Team North Wind was there to save the innocent penguins and capture Dr. Octavius to stop his fatal activities. The four penguins were saved by team North Wind and they were meant to help them as they showed some details data of Dr. Octavius. But they didn't match with them as the skipper and the leading wolf have various dissimilarities in the plans to stop Dave. Finally they got separated in Shanghai and started their mission on their own way. Meanwhile, Dave and his army stole penguins from all over the world except shanghai and they were in the plan to steal the famous mermaid penguins from Shanghai. Skipper and the penguins got failed in their plan and the squid army got private too. Then the rest 3 penguins decided to join in the North wind team and they would attack Dave together. But they all got captured including team north wind by Dave. Dave already turned all the penguins into monsters except private as he managed to run away from the squids. Then private saved the north wind team and they got escaped from them. At the end when Dr. Octavius told the whole world he managed to save all the penguins he got admiration from people. But when he released all the scary penguins all the people ran away from them. Finally private turned out the hero and he changed them in their normal look by sacrificing him and Dave too got shrink and again got love from kids for his cuteness. But private got a monster look and then another character from previous Madagascar king Julian was introduced in the film to get private his old look back with his pet in his funny way. No doubt, the film has the potential to make you laugh through the whole movie. The characters are really funny and they did their job. But as a film it lacks a good story and the new characters were not enough to remove the image of the missing characters from our mind. So, definitely we missed Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman in this movie and we need them back in future Madagascar. And the final thing, the theory of turning some animals into freaking monsters is already shown to us by despicable me 2.
