Raanjhanaa (2013)
7/10
A Heartfelt Romantic Saga

A romantic film that's tragic yet adorable in the same vein, without trying hard to be either of the two. Now you've got to love that. The film does have its flaws and the director makes some factual and continuity errors in his narrative. But all of this can be forgiven when a story of this intense simplicity comes along, which splatters a smile across your face from the get go; tugs at your heart strings for a major part, and finally wrenches your heart out towards the end.

In actuality, the real contributors of "Raanjhanaa" are its beautiful script and Dhanush's effortlessly endearing portrayal. The National Award winning actor enacts his character as a quirky, innocent, dreamy, raw, and passionate simpleton all rolled into one in the most sublime manner. His effort certainly merits a nomination if not a win at most of the major award functions this year. This is one southern star to look forward to in Hindi cinema.
