Season 5, Episode 18, "The Raincoats"

All too often neglected when listing the best Seinfeld episodes, the double episode "The Raincoats" is one of my favorites, it's one of the show's most intricate and ambitious episodes, and it's probably my favorite one from the excellent season 5.

The four separate story lines have rarely interacted with each other as well as they did on "The Raincoats". Jerry's parents are the main catalysts among which everything else happens, and they're hilarious, proving just how great a pair of actors they are. It's their interactions with each of the four main cast members that makes the episode go round, as well as with Close-Talker Aaron, one of Elaine's most memorable boyfriends-of-the-week, played hilariously by Judge Reinhold. The Costanzas also drop by for some memorable scenes, as does Newman in one of his finest moments. Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer are all hilarious, but for once it's the writing and the episode's construction that truly shine, and make it a true landmark episode.
