Nightmarish, yet beautiful
10 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
"Krysar" is one animated adaptation of the dairy tale "The Pied Piper of Hamelin". But, unlike the Disney adaptation of fairy tales, this movie is dark, bleak and nightmarish. And yet, I loved it immensely, and I found it to be magical and very inspiring. In many ways, this movie reminds me a lot the works of Jan Svankmajer and the Brothers Quay. The animation is pretty stylish and unique. All the characters had a unique appearance and personality. The combination of live action rats with animation works very well, being creepy and fascinating at the same time. Some sequences, like the ending, are beautiful and memorable. I really liked this dark, adult animation. I highly recommend it to anyone.
