Season 6, Episode 3
5/10
One of The Simpsons' weakest episodes although remains watchable with its best moments.

Warning: Spoilers
Not everything The Simpsons touched in its prime was gold. There were some episodes which did have lower quality than usual including this one. After reading a romantic novel one night in bed and touched by it, Marge eventually the next day decides that the family should go over their past romantic experiences i.e. through earlier episodes. Many which have had unhappy endings in their relationships with their beloved one.

The title of the episode is virtually exactly what it is. Scenes from earlier Simpsons episodes are heavily used, more likely to outnumber in length of the original scenes of the episode. Examples of recycled scenes include Homer taking a bitten hot dog from a wading pool from 9F06 or Bart, Lisa and Maggie watching an Itchy & Scratchy cartoon "Flay Me to the Moon" from 9F01 with the scene of them laughing and Marge entering the room directly taken from 7G12 with some minor edits such as new dialogue.

Much about Another Simpsons Clip Show is banal. Nothing more than a weak plot dealing with romance which seems irrelevant as The Simpsons embraces more on comedy although with some emotional moments and would have been better if the episode aired sometime in Valentine's day as well as the plot more likely to appeal to,well, the female demographic. The producers of The Simpsons unfortunately have had to produce episodes with scenes of past episodes known as clip shows to save costs by FOX, the main broadcaster of the series, as it was told that they cost about half to make than regular episodes. Nonetheless, this may as well be The Simpsons worst clip show next to 5F24. At least the series' first clip show,9F17, was a superior effort as it was funnier, had a better plot and used flashbacks less. Which including subsequent clip shows other than 5F24 were better.

Easily The Simpsons' worst Sixth Season episode and one of the worst overall in the series' although fortunately, clearly better episodes succeed this one and The Simpsons still went strong afterwards.
