Kites(Flying short of thread)
24 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Got to be one of the masses who was expecting a pearl out of marbles. We were sure of it until for 8 minutes. The story started somewhere and then began to drifted to no where. We weren't where exactly we are heading. But our surprises met a sudden death. Within very few minutes, the entire story got transmitted to our mind from the projector ( wondering how sophisticated the wireless device would be :)) Each and every scene was way expected and the story ran short of ideas. The entire story ran on a single thread , a relationship between Hrithik and Mori. We left like as if we were being dragged on a concrete floor on a bare butt. Though its not much painful, thanks to Hrithik. He holds the entire the screenplay on his shoulders, One couldn't imagine Kites without Hrithik. It was quite ironical to question about why they took nearly 2 years to complete this movie, We could'nt find any animations, CG except the magic of romance between the leads. An outstanding performance from Hrithik , as way expected. There is no doubt , he is being beckoned in for staring in Hollywood. Mori, not much expected from her hence her portraying of her character was eloquent and precise. All we could see was an pretty Indian girl speaking in Spanish. At end of the show , we thought that we expected too much hence the disappointment, as we get in any Indian movies. If we would have gone for a blind date , then definitely.. it would have been a charming one. Last but not least, a thumbs up for Hrithik, and a rose (though not a bouquet) to Anurag Basu for making a film way out of contrary. Kites- Worth for 150 bucks (if popcorn and coke expenses are included! ) $$½
