The Dark Lurking (2009)

Loud noisy film that isn't good enough to suffer through

Loud annoying mess of a film about a ship going to answer a distress call from a planetary out post and what happens when they get there. Nominally a scfi horror film with an occasional funny edge (ala Sam Raimi- hey that's what the cover said). The film seems to have been edited in a blender. Little of it seems to make sense. I had the nagging feeling that I missed a reel or two of the film. Worse is the fact that the film seems to be all close up or near close up shots, with any other shots being cut together in a manner that would even try the patience of the most MTV addicted person. The soundtrack is full of loud noises coupled with the cast barking their lines at volume that ruins any weight the words might have. The still images look good but in motion its all a mess. To be perfectly honest I got about a half an hour in and started to scan, which reduced my understanding so I had to back it up and I still didn't enjoy it. Given the choice I'd watch something else.
