Just another great series that was "put down" by the Network Suits, way before its time. At least this one knew it was going down and had the opportunity to provide a bit of closure for the viewers. The "non-event" of Jake's coming out, was VERY refreshing, albeit likely a bit unrealistic. The final scenes of the friends gathered waiting for the news of Karen and the baby, brought a tear to my eye. . perhaps I was just feeling kind of emotional that day. . .
This type of little merry-go-round is one of the MAJOR reasons the big networks keep losing viewers. Who wants to get involved with the character and plot development in a show with some promise, only to have the story stopped at some arbitrary point??
See also "Book of Daniel", "Jericho", "Commander in Chief", etc., etc., etc.
