a cartoon with live people
2 June 2007
Perhaps good Saturday morning fodder to drag children away from TeenAged Mutant Ninja Turtles or from something with square pants, but not really a "movie." This cartoon has clever bits and allusions to literature, and Noah Wylie is good to look at, but not much else. No plot, but a series of accidents and outrageous coincidences completely destroy the ability to willingly suspend the disbelief or anyone over 9. The movie makers have done a fine job with special effects, but that is like saying the chef has done a fine job selecting the table linen. Special effects are important only as a SUPPORT to a good plot. And that is entirely lacking here. Don't bother. Read a book for greater entertainment.
