Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes (2006 TV Movie)

A Disappointment
1 April 2007
After a city discovers that the local crematorium has been harvesting bodies for organs and skin, a small group decides to resurrect Pumpkinhead to seek revenge on the bad guys. But they're going to learn a valuable lesson about revenge and how it consumes you.

I don't even want to try to be nice to this film, because in all seriousness it was just not good. Some potential was here: Doug Bradley is a great actor, and he did a fine job in this as the town doctor. The crystal meth dealer was a good character, and one of the ladies was fun to watch (though her lack of nudity was a great loss to the film). But that's about it.

Let's say the story focused on the crematorium and the organ harvesting. That's a pretty good movie right there. Why even bring Pumpkinhead into this one? It wasn't necessary. And when he became "CGI Pumpkinhead" climbing the buildings, that was just silly. I'll take puppets and animatronics over CGI any day... this film being yet another prime example of why I feel like I do (and even my friend Jason, who is nicer than I am, couldn't stop from laughing at the poor quality).

This film also stars Lance Henriksen, which I'm sorry to say is not a good thing. Once upon a time, Lance was a sign you were in for a treat. Even his role as Frank Black on "Millennium" was pretty cool. But now, it seems he's not concerned one iota about choosing decent roles... he'll just show up for any script thrown at him. Lance, you have outdone Jeffrey Combs in the amount of crap you're willing to wallow in. Not only are you doing this (expletive) film, but a "Pumpkinhead 4"? Please God, let this franchise die.

Maybe you're the one person who has been watching the calendar waiting for this sequel and will really dig it... and it might be the last time you'll ever see Doug Bradley look thin. But I can safely say this was the most disappointing horror film I've seen in recent weeks (which means a lot when you review 6 a week).
