I have to say that this is one of the best films I have seen in the teenage/drug addiction genre and I don't expect it will be beaten as far as I am concerned.
As well as being a character-driven youth drama, it's basically a film about life. Too many movies are all about plot, and more specifically about plot devices. Screenwriters spend so much time developing plot that character development is put on the backburner. When you get to know the characters in this movie, you're able to connect with them, feel their pleasure and feel their pain. There is not a line of wasted dialogue and the movie incorporates a lot of life lessons that we can all relate to.
It is one of those rare, character-driven gems and is definitely worth seeing!
