a harrowing and important film
27 October 2006
I couldn't sleep after watching Self-Medicated. This film bravely exposes the real-life correction centers built to reform delinquent teenagers. If you can imagine yourself in their places, this is a very harrowing film. (I spent a lot of it with my hand over my mouth...)

The bullying and treatment of these adolescents as criminals is shocking. I now have a lot of respect for teens that make it out of these facilities. I hope many teenagers and parents will see this film and take it to heart. Cinematically this movie is flawless. The acting is very natural, the story flows, and the shots are beautifully composed and dramatic.

I think that it fully deserves all the praise it's received. I would certainly recommend this film to anyone. I was completely engrossed from beginning to end.
