Redux II adds on to the angst created by Gethsemane and Redux and brings the tension to a thrilling climax that leaves the viewer with a memorable impression. When Scully collapses during the FBI panel hearing and returns to the hospital, Mulder is forced to acknowledge that he is still alive. During this episode, we see some of David Duchovny's finest dramatic acting when he is at Scully's bedside. When you see Mulder's concern for Scully, you would swear it is really happening, it feels so real. The makeup department does a fine job on "cancer" Scully. She looks so sick at the hospital. The drama reaches its height during this episode when the Cigarette Smoking Man(CSM) offers to return Mulder's sister to him in exchange for working for him. Mulder then meets someone who appears to be his sister. At first, I thought Mulder was suckered in by CSM by this trick. But after thinking about it, I realized Mulder wasn't tricked by this as he let Samantha go way too easy if he really believed it to be her. The final segment of Redux II is not to be missed. I love how Mulder's speech at the FBI panel is integrated with simultaneous shots of Scully at the hospital and CSM at his apartment. The suspense doesn't get any better when Mulder is getting ready to reveal the bad guy in the FBI and the sniper has his sites on CSM. Redux was so nice they named it twice.
