The Butcher isn't a bad horror movie but it isn't a great one either. The film borrows heavily from other horror flicks like, The Hills Have Eyes, Wrong Turn and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - so don't expect a new story here.
The acting was pretty good considering the weak script. Actor Bill Jacobsen actually did do a pretty good job as Franklin Mayhew. The directing was pretty tight but the plot sagged in the middle. The sets looked creepy. Like most B movies the characters do some pretty silly things so expect lots of clichés.
Overall, I'd recommend it to rent for a cheap, mindless, horror flick, but don't buy.
