Its to no surprise Empty Building is still on the festival circuit. I had had the pleasure of watching it at the Newport Beach Festival back in April 04. I had a thought about it and was moved to look it up.
Its hard to describe a film knowing I'll fall short of mentioning all the layers mandatory for an accurate description. These layers are what made it so appealing to watch and remember so easily. There were the immediate distinguishable ones: the superb cinematography, art work and wonderful acting, the biggest contributor here being Giovanni Sanseviero. So convincing and genuine was his performance, without it the sell of "a world people in need of going to" would have been terribly disrupted.
But in my view the area containing the most generous of layers was the story, more so the idea within the story; a once familiar world now abandoned and light-years away but still within reach to regain and be guided by. I still remember this. An excellent achievement.
