Reportedly the very first animated feature (running just a little more then an hour), The Adventures Of Prince Achmed takes this classic story and replays it with silhouette animation, which is odd, as I thought the National Film Board were the first people to pioneer this. The director of this film did a lot of animated films like this, and Ahmed is the most well known. This film was recently given the lavish restoration and this is the results I saw.
The story is a mythological one, and therefore it's somewhat told in that style, with great oomph and pageantry. The problem with this movie, is that this type of animation, the style and story quickly loses it's welcome and can't really sustain it's 66 minute running time.
