Review of Rounders

Rounders (1998)
6/10
good script, let down by lack of credible female roles
27 February 1999
This is an interesting, low key movie set in the sleazy world of poker playing. Matt Damon plays Mike McDermott, a law student with a talent for the game. The film has a witty script and says a lot about the nature of gambling. There are also great performances from Edward Norton as Mike's idiotic but likeable friend and an amusingly accented John Malkovich. It's let down by the female roles which are criminally under-written.
