Review of Dolls

Dolls (1986)
It's a parody!
7 February 2000
Dolls should not be taken too serious, although Stuart Gordon has got some really great actors trying to make it to the end credits alive. Guy Rolfe, Carrie Lorraine, Hilary Mason and the two British girls should have been nominated for their performances. Dolls is a horror film, shot in the famous Italian Empire Studios, but it is also a comedy. There's so much subtle and less subtle comic relief in this film that no one will be really shocked by the killing scenes (one of which shows a fantasy involving a giant teddy bear taking revenge on Lorraine's wicked stepmother and father). Some blood flows, but luckily for the victims they will ultimately turn into antique dolls, to be cherished by the loving Rolfe and Mason. Notice how the wonderful music to the opening titles gets you in the mood!!!
