Interesting feature-length silent arabian nights movie, as a Prince travels the world wooing and saving a magical beauty. Very interesting looking movie, done with sillouettes that make it look like Thai shadow puppets (which were probably a part inspiration). At times very pretty, it actually looks like the sort of animation you see at an animated shorts festival, and is an interesting view of the world in the days when filmmakers weren't locked into Disney-style animation.
While I enjoyed this, I didn't really love it. It seemed a little slow to me. This is probably just the effect of too many of the movies that came after; I'm used to the modern elaborate cartoons, and while it's far less dated than live action silent movies, it still has the pacing of the era. It really is a brilliant, original creative movie, but not one that totally pulled me in. But definitely worth looking at.
