Alaqua Cox’s character Maya Lopez, the adopted daughter of the supervillain Kingpin, made her debut in Jonathan Igla’s Hawkeye (2021). The character, also referred to as Echo, is among the few deaf comic book characters. Following that, the actress played the lead role in the spin-off series Echo (2024), which co-starred Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil.
Alaqua Cox in and as Echo
It remains to be seen where Cox’s character will appear following the conclusion of the Echo finale, but Marvel Studios is obviously putting time, resources, and efforts into the new fan-favorite character. The actress, 27, recently discussed what she is looking forward to from the potential second season. Cox’s wish to join forces with Daredevil, a street-level superhero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is what has everyone’s attention.

If you live in the center of the “Marvel fan” and “musical theater lover” Venn diagram, then today’s news is going to be a real treat. Disney has announced that it’s bringing the once-only-fictional Rogers: The Musical to life as a “short one-act musical.” Performances will begin this summer at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim.
The announcement came via a short video posted to the Disney Parks Twitter account, which features a woman in Peggy Carter’s signature outfit walking into Disney’s Hyperion Theater with a playbill for the show in hand.
Originally introduced as a meta gag of sorts in Disney’s Hawkeye miniseries — which follows Jeremy Renner’s titular character after the events of Avengers: Endgame — the musical is supposed to be an in-universe Broadway hit, featuring the superhero team singing, dancing, and flying around the stage as they protect New York City from alien invasion.

The knee-slapping quips and archery antics of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in the MCU’s “Hawkeye” series have been submitted for Emmy attention in the comedy categories, instead of the presumed limited series field. With the switch in categories, all signs indicate that a potential second season of the Hawkeye superhero saga is in the future for Disney+, though no official announcement has been made.
In addition to seeking love for outstanding comedy series, stars Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld will angle for lead actor and lead actress consideration. In the supporting categories, Disney has submitted Vincent D’Onofrio, Fra Free, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, Florence Pugh and Vera Farmiga.

The MCU has its hands full this television awards season. Variety exclusively reported “Loki” would be submitted in the drama categories, while “Moon Knight” will now fly solo in the limited series realm.

Spoiler Alert: The following contains details from the Hawkeye Season 1 finale “So This Is Christmas?” on Disney+.
There was a lot to expect before the start of this Season 1 finale. We already knew Vincent D’Onofrio’s Daredevil bad guy and Echo guardian, Kingpin, would be making a grand appearance. In addition, Yelena (Florence Pugh) was finally going to have it out with her sister Natasha’s supposed murderer (so she was told), Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner).
However, it was the cameo by a Rolex watch that was the biggest scene stealer in Hawkeye‘s season ender which premiered Friday on Disney+.
After several fisticuff scenes and a few jumps out of the old RCA building in Rockefeller Center (an unintentional advertisement for Disney rival NBC’s Comcast HQ), Hawkeye ended tonight with Clint coming home to the family homestead for Christmas with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) in tow. Sitting down with this wife,...

Photo: 'Hawkeye' As someone who is only lightly invested in the MCU, the past year I have felt a tad overwhelmed by the amount I need to watch just to keep up. While they almost all received glowing critical acclaim, it’s not necessarily enough to make me want to watch. From ‘WandaVision’ to ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’ to ‘Loki’, I just don’t feel like I have the time to watch everything that the empire puts out. To my surprise though, after watching the first episode of ‘Hawkeye’, I found myself wanting to know more and clicking to the next episode. It was an entertaining and fast-paced watch and despite what I thought before, maybe I am ready to delve into the complex world of the Avengers. Spoiler Warning: This story includes discussion of plot points in the first two episodes of Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye,” which is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
Jonathan Igla first learned that Marvel Studios was making a “Hawkeye” series for Disney Plus the same way the world did, when Variety broke the news in April 2019 that it was in the works.
“I said to my reps, you’ve got to get me in that room,” Igla says now. “Please tell me this isn’t one of those cases where it’s being announced in the trades but they’re already five months down the line and none of us knew about it.”
Fortunately for Igla, the show was still in early development. But even though he was a massive fan of both Marvel comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’d never made a genre-heavy project before, working instead as a writer...

Hawkeye today became the latest Disney+ entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ll be recapping it for the next five weeks, starting with spoilers for the two-part series premiere, coming up just as soon as I have monogrammed butterscotch…
“Your whole thing is that you’re low-key,” Kate Bishop tells Clint Barton midway through the second episode of Hawkeye. “It’s a very hard brand to sell.”
This has been Clint’s burden throughout a long fictional life going back to his days as a third-rate Iron Man villain in the mid-Sixties.

Hawkeye Episodes 1 and 2
After more trailers, TV spots, and exclusive clips than you can shake a stick at, the first two episodes of Marvel’s Hawkeye are now streaming on Disney+.
But who asked for it? Hawkeye has steadily maintained his place in the Avengers line-up since 2012’s first team-up movie, and has been dutifully played by the double Oscar-nominated Jeremy Renner over the last decade, but Clint Barton is still a supporting character that the MCU itself has regularly mocked as being surplus to requirements.
Arguably, fewer MCU fans were as hyped for this series as they were for other supporting character Disney+ projects like Loki, but fans of Matt Fraction and David Aja’s spectacular 2012-2015 Hawkeye Marvel Comics run – which thankfully this series borrows from liberally – tentatively got their hopes up.

For more than a decade, Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton, aka “Hawkeye,” has been the odd man out in the Avengers squad. Now, he’s getting his own television series that both eschews the straightforward superhero script and looks exactly like what you’d expect from the Marvel machine.
Unlike most of his peers, Clint has zero superhero powers to speak of beyond an uncanny ability to hit a mark with his bow and arrow. The other exception to the rule was his best friend Natasha (Scarlett Johansson), aka “Black Widow,” who’s dead by the time Clint gets his own show. Now, Clint is still Hawkeye to the point that someone might ask for a selfie at the urinal, but he’s still apparently not famous enough to inspire many double takes even in the middle of Times Square. (Clint’s notoriety appears to shift in every other scene as the script demands.

Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner brought some holiday cheer to Hollywood Blvd. on Wednesday night for the launch of their new Disney plus series “Hawkeye.”
The dress code for the event was “Marvel holiday chic” and guests were certainly feeling festive, with fans rocking a mix of Christmas sweaters and Santa hats as well as Hawkeye and Kate Bishop costumes and bows and arrows.
The fabulously festive red carpet event was a warm welcome for Steinfeld, who joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old who idolizes Hawkeye (and is a pretty impressive archer herself), becoming his superhero trainee over the course of the six-episode series.
“It’s really a privilege to be able to play a character that could in any way possibly inspire anyone,” Steinfeld told Variety about embodying the beloved comic character.

If there is one character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who deserves to be the center of their own series so we can learn more about them, it’s Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye. An original Avenger whose main skill is that he knows his way around a bow and arrow, Clint has been around since Phase One and yet we still know shockingly little about him outside of his close friendship with Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and that he has a secret family only a few people knew about prior to the events of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015).
Debuting Wednesday, Nov. 24 with two episodes on Disney+, the six-episode “Hawkeye” will attempt to fill in the gaps in Clint’s story the way this summer’s “Black Widow” gave Nat a complete backstory (and revealed what happened in Budapest). The show is the fourth live-action Marvel series to...

Not since Shane Black brought his signature obsession with the holiday season to “Iron Man 3” has the Marvel Cinematic Unvierse embraced Christmas with such holly jolly cheer. The first trailer for “Hawkeye,” the next Marvel series coming to Disney Plus, arrived on Monday with a sleigh full of holiday references and a first look at Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop.
Picking up after the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” “Hawkeye” focuses on Marvel itself describes as a “seemingly simple mission.” Clint Barton must “get back to his family for Christmas.” But his journey is interrupted by the presence of a young woman named Kate Bishop, an “archer with dreams of becoming a superhero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.”
Kate is “a 22-year-old kid and she’s a big Hawkeye fan,” Renner previously told Entertainment Weekly.

Disney Plus released a trailer for “Hawkeye,” starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld in the latest piece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get the TV series treatment.
In the trailer, Clint Barton, a.k.a., Hawkeye, passes down the bow and arrow to fellow Marvel Comics character Kate Bishop, played by Steinfeld. Set during the Christmas season, Clint investigates someone posing as his deadly Ronin persona from “Avengers: Endgame,” only to discover it’s Kate, a fellow archer and fan. The two team up to take down criminals as Hawkeye promises his family he’ll be back home for Christmas.
“Hawkeye” is the fourth and latest live-action Marvel Studios show on Disney’s streaming service. “WandaVision,” starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, was the first to premiere, followed by “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. The third was “Loki,” starring Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has successfully made the jump to television with Emmy winner “WandaVision” and buzzy hits “Loki” and “The Falcon and the Winter Solider.” Next up for the ever-enduring franchise — on TV — is “Hawkeye,” which finds Jeremy Renner reprising his Avengers character opposite MCU newcomer Hailee Steinfeld. Also involved is Florence Pugh, who made her MCU debut as the highly trained spy and assassin Yelena Belova earlier this year in “Black Widow.” The supporting cast also includes Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy, and James Alaqua Cox.

Disney+ has set the premiere date for its next Marvel Studios series “Hawkeye,” which will debut the day before Thanksgiving on Nov. 24.
Jeremy Renner returns as one of the original Avengers Clint Barton/Hawkeye, alongside “Black Widow” star Florence Pugh and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld. The upcoming Disney+ series will see Barton, following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” train Kate Bishop (Steinfeld) to take over his mantle. Meanwhile Pugh’s Yelena, as seen as the post-credit scene in “Black Widow,” will be hunting down Barton as part of a job for the mysterious Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).
“Hawkeye” also stars Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and Zahn McClarnon.

Earlier this week we learned that Marvel Studios offered Bumblebee actress Hailee Steinfeld the lead female role in in their upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye. We still don’t know if she has taken the gig yet, but it seems like the fans would love to see her in the role, so if she does take it, she will be accepted with open arms.
I would personally love to see her in take on the role. As I’ve already said, she’s got the look, the style, and the acting chops to awesomely pull it off. Now, thanks to digital artist Mizuri, we have a piece of fan art and a fan-made poster to share with you that shows us what the actress could look like in the role.

Hailee Steinfeld could become an Avenger: Variety has reported that Steinfeld received an offer for a lead role in “Hawkeye,” the new Disney+ series slated for a late 2021 release. If negotiations are worked out, Steinfeld would portray Kate Bishop, who succeeds the original Hawkeye and joins the Young Avengers superhero team.
This would mark her second starring role in a television series, after the upcoming Apple TV+ “Dickinson” series, an alt-history show about 19th century poet Emily Dickinson. Outside television, Steinfeld is prolific in the film industry. She has starred in well-received films, including “The Edge of Seventeen” in 2016 and last year’s “Bumblebee,” both after earning an Oscar nomination for her work in the Coen Brothers’ adaptation of “True Grit.” Steinfeld isn’t a stranger to Marvel properties either, as she did voice work for Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman in 2018’s acclaimed “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld could star in Disney+'s Hawkeye TV series as Kate Bishop, which would be awesome.
Hailee Steinfeld is poised to officially make the jump to prestige TV star. The Bumblebee actress, who is also set to star in Apple TV's upcoming Dickinson, has been offered the lead role in the upcoming Disney+ McU show Hawkeye, according to Variety.
The limited series, which had previously been announced, will see Jeremy Renner return as Clint Barton, aka the eponymous Hawkeye. Steinfeld, should she be officially cast, would play the lead role of Kate Bishop. In Marvel Comics, Kate takes over the mantle of Hawkeye, and is a member of the Young Avengers. Though Kate Bishop would premiere on live-action screen in the Hawkeye TV show, there would no doubt be opportunity later to expand the role into Marvel's feature film world.
Steinfeld is pretty perfect for the part.

Season 1 of “The Mandalorian” is still a few months away, but showrunner Jon Favreau is already making plans for the second season of the highly-anticipated Disney+ series.

Favreau, who is serving as the showrunner for Season 1 of “The Mandalorian,” told the publication that directing “The Lion King” kept him away from directing an episode of the upcoming Star Wars show.
Although a second season of “The Mandalorian” has not been officially announced, much like the odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field, the odds that the series won’t get renewed are 3,720 to 1. Marvel has hired a writer to start working on their Hawkeye series for Disney+. That writer is Mad Men scribe Jonathan Igla and he will also act as executive producer. I loved Mad Men, so I’ll be looking forward to seeing what Igla brings to Hawkeye.
The series was officially announced at Comic-Con this year and Jeremy Renner is set to reprise his role. The series will also feature Kate Bishop and the series will see her being trained to be a badass warrior by Hawkeye. No other information on the series was revealed, except for the fact that it will also explore Ronin more.
The series is set to be released in fall 2021 as part of Marvel’s Phase Four round of releases. All of the Marvel shows that are being produced will tie directly into the McU movies and they are being produced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Jonathan Igla has the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his sights. Per multiple reports, the “Mad Men” alum will serve as writer and executive producer for “Hawkeye,” which will premiere on Disney+ in late 2021.
“Hawkeye” won’t be the first time Igla has collaborated with an McU veteran. Igla served as a supervising producer and writer on Facebook Watch’s drama, “Sorry for Your Loss,” which stars Elizabeth Olson — aka Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the McU.
In the new series, Jeremy Renner is set to reprise his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, the bow-wielding hero who appeared in a handful of prior McU films. The character had a dark arc in “Avengers: Endgame” earlier in the year, where he became a merciless vigilante before eventually reuniting with the survivors of his superpowered team. The upcoming “Hawkeye” series will follow the titular protagonist as he trains a young Kate Bishop, another...
