The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Final Destination 5 was Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
The Final Destination series is in the midst of a near 13 year break. But thankfully that should be ending next year with the sixth entry in the series. But there was another time when the franchise seemed as good as dead. After The Final Destination came out, it seemed like that was the end of any cheating of death. But thankfully Eric Heisserer came along with an script that would blow audiences away. So we’re getting into all the gymnastics mishaps, terrible bridge construction, and massages with a not so happy ending, as we look at Wtf Happened To Final Destination 5 (watch it Here).

Olivia Castle (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) knows things are about to be bad. Despite her doctor’s kind assurances that her laser eye surgery is routine and harmless, despite the stuffed bear she clutches, Olivia cannot help but shudder. Strapped to a table, her head held still and her eyelids pulled open, Olivia only grows more agitated. In contrast, the doctor goes through the setup process in a patient monotone, calmly talking her through the process. So confident is he, that the doctor doesn’t even worry about stepping out for a moment, leaving Olivia temporarily unattended.
Of course, he doesn’t know what we know. After her life was saved by co-worker Sam Lawton (Nicholas D’Agosto), who convinced her and others to get off of a bus minutes before it was involved in a horrific accident, Olivia and her fellow survivors have been hunted by Death.

Abel and Burlee Vang offer a satisfying, troubling portrait of motherhood gone wrong to go with the lashings of gore
They Live in the Grey is another classy effort on the Shudder streaming platform, properly scary and thoughtfully constructed, with unusual editing and framing sleights of hand, co-directed by Hmong-American brothers Abel and Burlee Vang. But Grey also serves an emotionally devastating study of grief, one anchored by a wrenching lead performance from Michelle Krusiec, who plays a social worker Claire Yang. Claire is assigned to investigate a case of possible domestic abuse involving a pre-adolescent girl named Sophie (Madelyn Grace) living in a tense home with parents Audrey and Arthur (Bernard Bullen); Claire starts to see the ghost (Mercedes Manning) of a woman whose poltergeisting may be the cause of Sophie’s bruises. Claire has always been able to see dead people, like the kid in The Sixth Sense,...

Previously, I interviewed the lovely ladies Emma Bell and Ellen Wroe for "Final Destination 5." This was in 2011.
Then, in 2012, both fun actresses created a Kickstarter campaign to create their passion -- a spoof of rap/jazz/R & B parody mocking the "dichotomous viewpoints of the American health food craze and obesity obstacle." They called it "The Food Ditty." Back then, they said, "It will be a quirky, quaint and quite idiosyncratic video much in the vein of Ellen's first spoof rap video, The Gatorade Rap."
Well, they were successful in raising $15,000 for their project, and they recently unveiled "The Food Ditty" on FunnyorDie.com! They were even featured on the home page of the comedy site! Yay!
Congrats to Emma and Ellen otherwise known as Smellen Wroe :happy

Emma Bell and Ellen Wroe -- I adore these lovely ladies (click on their names to see my fun interviews with them for "Final Destination 5")! This is the Pure Movies review of Final Destination 5, starring Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Ellen Wroe, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, P.J. Byrne, Arlen Escarpeta and David Koechner, directed by Steven Quale. The film was reviewed by Natalie Peck for the Pure Movies coverage of Film4 Frightfest. The Final Destination franchise is back, complete with a fresh line-up of victims for Death to pick off one by one. Sam (Nicholas D'Agosto) has a disturbing vision of a bridge collapse, and saves his co-workers from a grisly end, including girlfriend Molly (Emma Bell). After a warning from the local coroner (Candyman star Tony Todd) the survivors realise that they are destined to die, in increasingly inventive and entertaining ways of course. Sam and Molly might be the wettest couple on the planet - no one is exactly routing for them - but that is largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Chicago – There’s no question that the “Final Destination” series is among the most lame-brained, ill-conceived, lazily executed franchises in Hollywood history. Every installment follows the exact same plot formula, from the opening catastrophe to the bleak epilogue. There isn’t a single surprise or quality scare in these pictures, and yet they still continue to make copious amounts of money.
But after the wretched awfulness of the oddly titled 3D reboot, “The Final Destination,” this fifth installment is a slight improvement, if only because the filmmakers play much of it for laughs. James Cameron’s frequent collaborator, Steven Quale, is in the director’s chair this time around, and needless to say, he makes the film vastly more polished than it has any right to be. Yet he’s still unable to make the picture resonate as anything other than a mediocre time waster.

Final Destination 5 movie delivered outrageous death scenes, twists & more New Line released their new horror flick "Final Destination 5" into theaters this weekend. I just got through watching it,and I thought it was very entertaining. They threw in multiple twists towards the end, which was cool. Obviously,it lacked originality since this was the 5th film of the series, but still,it was entertaining. The movie stars: Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, David Koechner, Tony Todd, Courtney B. Vance, P.J. Byrne, Ellen Wroe, and Jacqueline MacInnes-Wood. In the flick, a group of company people go on a retreat. However, on the way there, character Sam Lawton dreams that a bridge they stopped on,collapses and kills all of them except character Molly. After he wakes up,he sees all the things in his dream happening all over again, and tells everyone to get off the bus.

Final Destination 5 Directed by: Steven Quale Written by: Eric Heisserer Starring: Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Arlen Escarpeta, Miles Fisher, Ellen Wroe, P.J. Byrne, Arlen Escarpeta and Tony Todd The Final Destination franchise has never been known for its logic and storyline but mostly for its over-the-top kills and formulaic plot points. I would call myself a mild fan of the franchise seeing that I have watched all the films and have followed the franchise through its good times and very very bad times. Walking into Final Destination 5, I was not expecting much especially after how goofy and illogical the fourth film was. Fortunately this one plays it straight; it is still a Final Destination movie at the end of the day, but it is a good one at that. Every Final Destination film revolves around a disaster featured in the first ten minutes where a character has a...

Haven’t we learned some very important lessons thanks to the Final Destination franchise? I’m not talking just about the whole ‘you can’t cheat death’ stuff that one character or another ends up realizing (usually right before their face gets ripped off)—I mean more about what I tend to think about after I see a Final Destination movie: Holy smokes, there are a lot of ways to die.
This is true for Final Destination 5 too, thank goodness, and you really have to hand it to the writers for being able to dig deep and gross in...

Final Destination 5
Starring Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, David Koechner
Directed by Steven Quale
Rated R
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
I thought the last film would be the last; after all it was titled The Final Destination. Despite my hatred for the last film, I gave into the temptation to go see the fifth (and hopefully final) Final Destination in 3D. And I didn't regret watching it... but take that with a grain of salt. The film opens on Sam (Nicholas D'Agosto), a wannabe chef who is deciding whether or not to intern at a restaurant in France. But honestly, are going to see this movie for the story or for the strong violence?
Anyway, Sam and his friends, Peter (Miles Fisher), Candice (Ellen Wroe), Nathan (Arlen Escarpeta), Olivia (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), and Isaac (P.J. Byrne), who work for a paper company, are also travelling via charter bus with...

If you happen to see "Final Destination 5" this weekend, try to keep your eyes open long enough to check out Miles Fisher, a singer, actor and viral video hit-maker extraordinaire, who stars in the gory summer flick.

For this third part of our roundtable interview series for Final Destination 5, we had the opportunity to chat with several more of the cast members including Miles Fisher (who played Tom Cruise in Superhero Movie), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood ("The Bold and the Beautiful") and relative newcomer Ellen Wroe.
We spoke with the trio about their thoughts on coming on board for the fifth film of the Final Destination franchise, the real-life perils of shooting the squirm-inducing laser eye surgery scene, how the sequel managed to raise the bar for the horror genre as a whole and why they wanted to collaborate with first-time director (and 3D guru) Steven Quale.
For genre newcomers Wroe and Wood, the pair of actresses talked about why they were excited to be a part of Final Destination 5 even though neither of them really knew much about the franchise going into the project.

Since Final Destination 5 is doing its damnedest to wash away the bad memory of the last installment (and for our own Heather Wixson it has), we thought that you might be interested in what some of the other critics are saying about the movie.
In case you haven't been reading Dread Central religiously (and shame on you if you haven't), Final Destination 5 stars Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, P.J. Byrne, and Ellen Wroe as well as Tony Todd, Courtney B. Vance and David Koechner. Steven Quale directed from a screenplay by Eric Heisserer. Craig Perry provided producing duties.
In her Dread Central review of Final Destination 5, Heather said that:
"Final Destination 5 is not only gruesomely entertaining, but it has managed to breathe new life into the franchise, making a huge fan out of me all over again."
She's not alone.

The film stars Nicholas D'Agosto, Miles Fisher (who created that hilarious video we shared last week), Emma Bell, Courtney B. The long-running horror franchise rumbles on, but can Final Destination 5 improve on its unsatisfying predecessor? Here's Ron's review...
Ahh, the corporate retreat. It's long been a staple of fictional corporations, and it makes a convenient movie plot to gather a lot of people together for no good reason.
At Presage Paper, the corporate retreat for all the white-collar types is some kind of summer camp with more corporate buzz speak, and it's the brainchild of Dennis (David Koechner) and Peter (Miles Fisher). More Peter than Dennis, but that's beside the point.
The whole company's administrative and sales wing gets on a chartered bus to head towards the camp, when Sam (Nicholas D'Agosto) has an abrupt freak-out. He starts screaming, telling everyone to leave the bus due to a vision he has of a bridge collapse.
Of course, since this is a Final Destination movie, seven people get off the bus,...

Final Destination 5 in 3D
Directed by: Steven Quale
Cast: Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher
Running Time: 1 hr 32 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: August 12, 2011
Plot: A group survives a near-fatal bridge collapse. Now it seems that death is chasing them down and killing them one by one.
Who’S It For? Have you enjoyed the four previous installments? Do you like the idea of being tortured with where death is coming from? If quality acting doesn’t matter to you, then you should be good to go.
Expectations: Low. I think that’s fair to say. I saw the first Final Destination and that’s it, that’s the list. I realize those who love the series might be upset with some of the things I have to say below. Just keep in mind, I am a fan of good movies, not a die-hard Final Destination fan. One more thing,...

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood in Final Destination 5
Photo: New Line Cinema The Final Destination franchise has never been about acting or story. The idea you can't cheat death and if you do escape its clutches it will come back for you isn't fodder for high art, but rather an opportunity for cheap thrills and it's been successful before. In my opinion the original film was decent and Final Destination 2 was downright entertaining, but since 2006's Final Destination 3, the franchise has fallen.
2009's The Final Destination was expected to be the fourth and final installment in the now-11-year-old franchise. Then it went on to make over $186 million at the worldwide box-office, thanks in large part to inflated 3D ticket prices, and New Line had no choice but to greenlight a fifth. This, despite the fact the fourth film was easily the weakest of the franchise, slathered with cheap 3D and unoriginal kills,...

Chicago – The “Final Destination” movies have become an increasingly-excessive orgy of gore with a twisted sense of humor – the Grim Reaper isn’t just coming for you, he’s going to have some fun before you go. The first four films in the franchise represented the typical downward spiral common in horror series with each subsequent entry falling a little deeper down the rabbit hole of typical horror genre traps. The newest entry, “Final Destination 5,” opening tomorrow, definitely marks an uptick after the last horrendous installment and it has moments that work (including some of the most unusually-entertaining “quality kills” in the entire series) but it ultimately fails to add anything new to the unexpected “Final Destination” anthology.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
The last “Final Destination” was an absolute train wreck, using the new trend of 3D in bafflingly stupid ways and presenting the least likable group of characters in horror that year.

No horror film would be complete without the blood-curling scream from a pretty girl. Luckily, "Final Destination 5," has three -- Emma Bell , Jacqueline MacInnes Wood and Ellen Wroe . Click on the "Launch Gallery" button below to see photos of the scream queens at the film's Hollywood premiere, plus the rest of the cast and some famous faces. Horror fans should recognize Bell, who starred as Amy in the breakout zombie series "The Walking Dead." MacInnes Wood -- who looks like a cross between Megan Fox and Jessica Biel -- is the film's bespectacled bombshell. Wroe has been featured prominently in the "Final Destination" spots, where her character -- a gymnast named Candice -- faces her doom on a balance beam. Watch it below: Other cast members at the premiere including Nicholas D'Agosto and Miles Fisher . Devon Sawa from the first "Final Destination" film and Texas Battle from the third movie also showed their support.

Nicholas D'Agosto and Emma Bell brought their charm to the Los Angeles premiere of "Final Destination 5". Hitting the black carpet rolled outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Wednesday, August 10, Nicholas showed off his masculine look in tieless shirt and black suit, while his beautiful co-star stole attention in a leg-baring colorful mini dress.
Nicholas and Emma were joined by other cast members, such as Arlen Escarpeta and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood. Arlen showed off an eye-catching style with colorful shirt and bowtie, while Jacqueline looked sexy in her mini dress. There were also Ellen Wroe and Courtney B. Vance in attendance.
Among the celebrity guests for the special screening was Jason Biggs. Bringing along wife Jenny Mollen, the "American Pie" actor sported a laid back look by donning a plaid shirt and a pair of trousers. His wife, Jenny, also kept it simple with pastel color shirt and black trousers.

Title: Final Destination 5 Directed By: Steven Quale Starring: Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Ellen Wroe, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Pj Byrne, Arlen Escarpeta, David Koechner, Courtney B Vance, Tony Todd There’s no beginning this review without setting the scene from a personal standpoint; I am a diehard Final Destination fan. I’ve seen them all countless times and love them all to death (no pun intended), that is until The Final Destination tainted my beloved franchise. Sure, it’s tough to keep a plot fresh four times over, but drowning it in 3D technology is no way to spice it up and Final Destination 5 proves it. No, it doesn’t solidify...

This is definitely one of my favorite interviews ever! The trio of P.J. Byrne (Isaac), Arlen Escarpeta (Nathan), and Courtney B. Vance (Agent Block) made it a really fun interview! We laughed, we ruminated, even sang talking about "Final Destination 5."
In this interview, we talked about Vance as the agent of guilt, Byrne as the agent of comedy, and Escarpeta as the agent of reason.
Oh, they also sang, in harmony no less! In the film, everytime Death is about to appear, Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" plays. And so, Byrne, Escarpeta, and Vance sang their hearts out! Call it, "Final Destination" the Musical!
Fun!

Have I told you how much "Final Destination 5" exceeded my expectations? This fifth installment has an excellent twist that you would not be able to predict, and Nicholas D'Agosto (Sam Lawton) and Emma Bell (Molly) were game to play their characters.
But I was excited to meet Tony Todd (Bludworth) as well. Mister "Candyman" himself was super-sweet, and the "Final Destination" audience clearly loved that Todd returned for the fifth film. They all clapped upon seeing his name.
I had fun talking to them, and you will have fun watching the movie.
